Apple recently announced the Universal Control feature for Macs and iPad. At first, I thought it was a regular feature. However, it’s not! I think Apple was working on this feature for over a decade.

What is Universal Control?
In simple words, you are controlling your Macs and iPad with a single trackpad. This allows for smooth data transfer from your iPad to your Mac and vice versa.

Okay, but what makes it so special?
Apple has been working on making the iPad the next laptop by adding gesture features, keyboard-trackpad support and well some Mac apps on it.
Additionally, they are also trying to make the Mac work just like an iPad. The new M1 chips have played a significant role in that. The gap between Macbooks and iPad is closing up with new features.

Can you get to the point?
This smooth transition of data transfer from iPad to Mac and vice versa is only possible because of Apple’s long-term thinking. By trying to close the gap between the devices they were able to make this feature work.
If you think like this, earlier developers had to create apps for Macs, iPads, iPhones separately. But with the invention of M1 chips, they are able to create one app for multiple devices.

To conclude, Apple is trying to create an ecosystem with which no one can compete(which is already so powerful and complete). We might be looking at more features of M1 chips in the coming years. Who knows but we might be able to edit videos using Final Cut Pro on our iPhones! This is just the beginning of the reign of Apple Computers!
